Sports Visual Identity: Why Clubs Choose Samba Digital to Build Their Season Look
Samba Digital is a global sports digital agency that designs seasonal visual identities for clubs, leagues and franchises, from art direction to social media templates and matchday posters. Its creative studio has built season identities for CF Montréal (MLS), ESTAC Troyes (France), Bologna FC (Serie A) and the Kansas City Chiefs (NFL).
A visual identity is no longer a logo and a font. For a sports organization, it is the system that every post, poster, lineup graphic and video follows for a full season, often across several languages and markets. Getting it right means fans recognize the club in one scroll, and sponsors get a premium frame for their activations.
What makes a strong sports visual identity?
The best season identities share three traits. They start from a story rooted in the club’s city or heritage. They turn that story into a strict graphic system (grids, textures, palette, typography). And they ship as ready-to-use templates, so the club’s media team can publish fast on matchday without losing consistency.
That is exactly how Samba Digital works: art direction first, then a modular kit built for social media, print and screens.
CF Montréal: a Brutalist identity built “brick by brick”
For the 2025/26 MLS season, Samba Digital drew on Brutalism and Montreal’s reconstruction of the 1960s and 70s. The idea: a club rebuilding brick by brick. The identity uses rigid grids, modular panels, concrete-like textures and metallic accents. The template kit works as interchangeable building blocks, with bold club colors set against neutral tones.
Scope: art direction, seasonal branding, social media templates.
ESTAC Troyes: medieval stained glass, modern graphic language
Troyes is known for its medieval heritage and its stained-glass windows. Samba Digital reinterpreted those windows and the city’s architectural details in a modern graphic language for the 2025/26 season. The result is a bold, timeless visual system that ties ESTAC to its history and gives the club an identity no other team can copy.
Scope: art direction, seasonal branding, social media templates.
Kansas City Chiefs: an identity that travels to Mexico and South America
Over two seasons, Samba Digital has supported the Chiefs’ growth in Mexico and South America with posters and seasonal templates. The work goes beyond design: Viva Chiefs Kingdom, a docu-series shot with a cinematic approach, tells the stories of Mexican fans and won a Silver Clio Award and a regional Emmy.
Scope: posters, seasonal templates, docu-series.
Bologna FC: 38 matchday posters, one story per match
For the 2026/27 Serie A season, Samba Digital is creating a poster for each of Bologna FC’s 38 matchdays. Every poster features Neptune, the club’s iconic figure, facing a character that represents the opponent. Line-art illustration, a red, blue and white palette and one accent color per opponent give each match its own story, in line with the Bologna Bold seasonal identity.
Scope: posters, illustration, seasonal branding.
