Paris Saint-Germain launches its first artistic NFTs with Lucky Buddy, dropping on 24th April
Paris Saint-Germain has teamed up with fellow Parisian artist Ludo to release a set of unique non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The limited crypto collectibles, dropping on Saturday, looks to extend the connection between the Club and its supporters through powerful blockchain technology.
Agile, authentic, and constantly exploring new ambitions – the parties teaming up for the launch of this collection share these common values. This collaboration comes as the world explores new norms in connection and technology. NFTs present a new opportunity to form new bonds and reinforce existing ones. PSG Lucky Buddys will be the digital trophy for those who take pride in the Rouge et Bleu each matchday.
“For 10 years Paris Saint-Germain has taken into account the different interests of its fans around the world and has developed an extremely innovative product approach” said Fabien Allegre, Paris Saint-Germain Director of Brand Diversification and Merchandising. “We have long embraced the evolutions in the Blockchain world, as the first Club to issue our hugely successful Fan Tokens with our partner Socios, and the first to tie-up with SoRare. As the Club of the next generation, we are pleased to take the next move into this exciting NFT, Blockchain technology driven space.”
These custom digital art pieces will include 5 variants of the Lucky Buddy – the appraised NFT figurine created by the artist Ludo – available in an edition of 11 unique pieces in total, one for every player on the pitch. The variants represent the historic colours of the capital Club and the beloved Hechter design, including a Home Kit Lucky Buddy, an Away Kit Lucky Buddy, and one-of-a-kind Specials: the Third Kit, Fourth Kit and Gold Lucky Buddys which will be awarded to lucky bidders. These limited edition NFTs will be sold directly on Opensea, the world’s largest NFT marketplace and will be limited to one piece per crypto wallet.
A share of proceeds from these lucky crypto gems will go towards supporting the Paris Saint-Germain Endowment Fund which carries out missions of a humanitarian, educational, sporting or social nature. See luckybuddys.com for further detail.
“As an artist, I live and breathe the cultural influences of every city, and as a Parisian, I can vouch for the undeniable role that Paris Saint-Germain plays in this city and beyond. The reach of PSG goes further than football, the club’s influence extends into lifestyle and society. I’m very happy to partner with them with the Lucky Buddys series, which marks an important bridge from the physical to the digital form of cultural and artistic expression. Since discovering blockchain technology years ago, I’ve been fascinated with the opportunities and challenges this world brings, and am thrilled to explore this further with Paris Saint-Germain in the moment we are living right now.” – Ludo, artist and creator of Lucky Buddy NFTs
