Rugby League World Cup marks the debut of the sport’s first NFT marketplace
Despite the postponement of the Rugby League World Cup, they are still hard at work. This league has created the first-ever non-fungible Token (NFT) marketplace in the sport, thanks to a recent collaboration with blockchain company NuArca. Through this intriguing new platform, fans will be able to acquire digital collectibles celebrating the tournament’s rich history. Furthermore, they can use these mementos to honor their most decorated athletes, countries, and historical events.
According to this newly formed cooperation, the debut of this new platform will be a first for the sport of rugby. These NFTs will allow supporters to demonstrate the league’s passion and dedication to the sport. This marketplace will provide fans with the opportunity to own a piece of rugby league history, in addition to collectors.
Prior to the postponement, the 2021 event was supposed to take place this autumn. NFT collectors and fans, however, will have to wait until November 2022 as a result of this setback. This pause comes after Australia and New Zealand withdrew late due to Covid-19 concerns. This next league will also be the first time that the RLWC men’s competition will be played in tandem with the women’s and wheelchair events, with equal fees paid to all participants.
